Jesse Maka'ina'i III

Owner/Certified Inspector

Jesse has been a home inspector in Hawai‘i since 2009.  He is a dual certified inspector as both an ASHI ACI and InterNACHI CPI.  With over 13 years of home inspection experience, Jesse is one of the island’s most senior home inspectors.  His ability to provide detailed and insightful inspections also stems from his complementary work experiences.  Jesse has worked in all types of construction from cabinetry, design, plans drawing, auto cad drawing, CNC operation and maintenance, new builds, remodels, green building techniques and BMP’s.  He has worked in supervisory, project management, resource management and property consultation roles.  Jesse was raised in his family’s cabinetry business where he learned the art of being a fine wood carpenter.  In the summer of 2021, Jesse proudly took over as the owner of Building Specs Hawai‘i.  His goal continues to be to provide quality home inspections to the community that offers valuable and useful information.  Due to Jesse’s background, he can work with everyone from the first-time home buyer to the seasoned investor.  Clients and real estate agents alike all appreciate Jesse’s attention to detail, professionalism and ability to convey information in meaningful and understandable ways.  The opportunity to meet and work with various people, establishing long-term relationships with agents and clients, constantly developing skills and techniques and providing a valuable service to customers are some of the many reasons why Jesse loves being a home inspector.

In addition to home inspecting, Jesse also works as a Rescue Firefighter with the Honolulu Fire Department.  So don’t be surprised if you every catch this home inspector rappelling out of a helicopter.  Jesse is born and raised on O’ahu spending all of his life residing on the windward side of the island in Kailua, Kahalu’u and Kāne‘ohe.  Jesse is a proud Crusader, having graduated from Saint Louis in 2001.  He attended collage at Western Oregon University and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.  In his rare but much enjoyed free time, Jesse loves diving and doing home project with his wife Mehana and four keiki.
